Will Fitbit Sense 2 support third party apps?

I can't believe I bought a brand new Sense 2 with no though that all the apps supported on my Sense are no longer available. Can someone explain this to me, because its the worst idea ever.

when google bought fitbit, they only really did it to try to get into the smartwatch market. this watch and the versa are just contractual obligations, which is also why alexa is the sole assistant in the device. they removed apps to make the pixel watch stand out. i’m sure google maps taking this long is not by coincidence either.

Hi @petekra - this has puzzled many, why they would downgrade the next version of the Sense, missing features that existed on the previous model, especially Google Assistant or music as well..

If you aren't happy you can get a refund. If bought from Fitbit direct it's 45 days, and some stores offer 14 or 30 days.

Hey,

I do hope the 3rd party app development is on the way. As with the release of new firmware i can see the developer bridge opening up. This might be a positive sign as these things were not there in the earlier firmwares.

This also implies a whole new process of developing apps for these devices as they no longer support wifi(as its disabled). So the SDK development is also taking more time.Lets wait and see whats planned for this

@rajat1048 I'm not that optimistic. If there was a new SDK to be released why would Fitbit hide it? If some features can be "coming soon", the same could be announced about third-party apps support and SDK as "coming soon", or "coming later this/next year" or anything like that. Fitbit knows it's a big deal for a majority of users, especially those who moved from Sense to Sense 2. The developer bridge, despite not being supported, was there from the very beginning but as well there was the ability to enable unsupported Snore Report.

@rajat1048-  what @t.parker says.

You can hope but there is no announcement or any timeline of things to come, nor what will come, or even how well it works if it does, so you may end up being quite disappointed. It's normally better to work with what is available now rather than what might be available.

All I want is the flashlight back. You'd think that was something simple that would be included.

Hi @Debit57 - an original Sense has the possibility of a flashlight but the Sense 2 does not have that feature.

If you are unhappy with the watch Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy or possibly authorised dealers too, some stores provide 14 to 30 day refunds.
