Will Sense 2 get back the many removed original Sense features?

I'm deeply disappointed with Sense 2 because it's lacking many of the features that made the original Sense great, and there was no mention of the downgrades in Fitbit's marketing.

Here are some of the removed features:

  • No music controls
  • No 3rd party apps
  • No continuous distance tracking while swimming
  • No hold-to-change watch face

And these things have become worse:

  • Worse HR accuracy
  • Erratic running speed reporting
  • Clunkier and less attractive user interface

is Fitbit/Google working on a software update to bring those features back/fix them?

Since there’s no response from Google/Fitbit, I believe it’s safe to assume they’re not planning on fixing Sense 2 to deserve the "2" in the name. It’s a shame that Google/Fitbit don’t value relationships with their customers enough even to bother to reply to a legitimate problem. I’m back to the original Sense and am re-evaluating my relations to Google/Fitbit in general. I don’t see much future here, so I might finally bite the bullet and switch to an Apple Watch.

Hi @jkbrzt - unfortunately it seems this is the new direction so the things that have been specifically removed, including Google Assistant, are unlikely to return.

Very disappointed at the changes made to the Sense 2 - the lack of music control has made me regret upgrading . Won’t be buying Fitbit again if it doesn’t change back as it was extremely useful

Hi @JRD86 - If you are unhappy with the watch Fitbit have a 45 day refund policy if bought direct or from an authorised shop perhaps and some stores a 14 to 30 day one.

I was not aware of this. Believe I am still within the time so will look at returning it, appears to be no indication of Fitbit making the changes requested by users

@JRD86 Fitbit, as any other company, has own roadmap for products which is planned months ahead. Users requests are not going to affect that almost at all (unless these are very simple things to implement or critical bug fixes). If major features are missing it is very unlikely they will be added because users posted feature suggestion. If it's not in the current plans it's not happening. For us, users, the only way we can show our approval or disapproval is voting using our wallets. If you have chance to return device for full refund then this is it - voting with wallet.

After 11 years with Fitbit and almost all iterations of the trackers with the 4 dots and even that darn, 2 original Charges even before they added the HR monitoring, the first GPS with the black and white screen, a few versas, The blaze, and the last Sense v1 I jumped ship. I was so excited when Google bought FitBit and waited years for the acquisition to be completed expecting the best smartwatch ever from my 2 favorite entities.  What a dud.  I bought a Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and will never look back.  Different world. Here is what the guru's say.  Google will faze out regular FitBits and is doing it one step at a time.  Their focus is on the Pixel. That's what they want you to buy. They will gut FitBit intellectual and that'll be that.  Remember how cheap they bought it for? BTW love Samsung tracking!!!!!
