clock face stops updating time -- is it just me?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This is 100% reproducible for me.  The clock face on my sense2 stops updating.  Contacted support and went through the blind motions and the problem persists.  Here's how to reproduce it: (there are multiple ways, this one is simple)

1. Start a timer for 1 minute (time length doesn't seem to matter)

2. When timer expires, press the checkmark to acknowledge, but DO NOT leave that screen.

3. "Screen saver" AOD kicks in and shows the time.  This time will never update.

4. Wait a couple minutes, observe the wrong time on the watch face.

Is it just me, or is this all Sense2 or only those with SpO2 enabled or certain faces?

I have reproduced with Facet (fitbit provided face) as well as at least one non-fitbit face.  Haven't tried a bunch to see if it is global.

This also happens if I end an exercise but don't leave the summary screen, just let the display time out and the AOD will never update for me.

To get display to update again, press the button to wake the UI, then press the button again to exit the submenu back to the normal display.  Things update after that.

Of the 2 top things I want a smart watch for, my sense2 is failing on both of them.  ("accurate time" being #1, and "track exercise" being #2, but the exercise tracking failure is intermittent so haven't figured it out yet and it should be its own topic anyway).

Is the frozen time just me?

Hi @Retwep - thanks for reporting well this interesting feature.

You can probably resolve it by pulling the watch face down to get to Quick Settings and turn off Always On and turn on Wrist wake.

There may be a fault with "settings" AOD clock face in the firmware version you are using (which incidentally may be in 24hr mode)

Check you are on the latest firmware level as it works fine for me, regardless of how you select the timer, from the tile or from the app.

Thanks @Guy_, I am not using 24 hour mode.  Not sure if that is what you were referencing.

Turning off AOD "fixes" the problem but doesn't fix it, because instead of an incorrect time at a glance, I have "no" time at a glance (yes, with just the right wrist movement, I can get it to light up and show me the menu, but my old eyes I have to squint and bring the watch to my face to read the microscopic dark/faded time at the top.  Even if it lights up, it is on the menu, not the clock face.  I really want to keep AOD on.

TTBOMK I have the latest firmware.  I suspect that might even be when the problem started happening.  I don't recall it before, but not sure precisely when it started showing up.  One of the steps support had me do was the "factory reset" which of course includes the mandatory firmware update.

The watch says I'm on 60.20001.184.52

What other suggestions might you have?  When you tried to reproduce, what watch face did you have? Support had me try with/without auto timezone, and neither worked, had me check the timezone, (right in all cases).

Do you have any SpO2 faces?  Do you have any non-fitbit faces?  I'm wondering if somehow that might affect this.  I haven't wiped the faces out yet.

I'm attached to iphone if that matters here (I hope it doesn't)

@Retwep  - in your Quick Settings check the icons very carefully,  they should all be off.

The brightness one is quirky and seem to have a mind if its own.

Go to watch Settings, Display to see it's value, you may want Max  but getting it to stay may not be possible, it's just  a bug.

@Guy_  I think I understand your answer, but it doesn't solve the problem?  When AoD is on, and the watch face is left on a menu, the clock won't update.  How does making sure all the icons are off help this?  If they are all off, then AoD is off.  That isn't what I want. I want AoD on so I can see the face at a glance without having to make "the special move" that sometimes lights the watch face and sometimes leaves me flipping my arm around like crazy trying to light up the watch.  Just a glance, see the time (and have it be accurate!), move on with my day.  No flapping, no floundering, no repeated wrist movements, just a quick glance.

Do I misunderstand your suggestion?  Are you suggesting again that I turn AoD off?

@Retwep - the suggestion is to have wrist wake working, that way when you look at the watch the clock (or menu) shows.

If it is off you will only have a blank screen or AOD face.

Swipe the watch face to the right to get out of menu when you have finished with it.

That way the clock will appear when you look at the watch regardless of AOD.

Using AOD may be your preference but it is using the battery more when you aren't looking at the watch, so has to be a preference over battery life if you choose it.
