Hi,

As an android user, will I be able to take calls through the Sense? As in answer and talk through the watch on a phone call?

Thank you in advance!

It seems so. The press release says:

"Stay connected with a range of smart features for added convenience, including a built-in speaker and microphone to take calls and reply to texts with voice commands,"

It seems this works by being connected by bluetooth to your phone (which must therefore be close by) in much the same way as using a bluetooth connected headset

Just to add, it doesn't appear that this will be available at launch. I think I read somewhere that it said "coming soon".

"Available when phone is nearby. Bluetooth calling and volume control coming soon. Reply to text available only to Android users."

@RB_Swe I really think also iPhone user will be able to use the feature like all Apple users can use different sets of headphones and not only airPods.

@gibbyhome Yes this should behave just like any other Bluetooth audio device on iOS. If you can take calls using Bluetooth headphones, you should be able to do the same with this.

Yes but exactly when?. Selling a watch which when it arrives hasn't got the features enabled that persuaded you to buy it is misleading and false advertising.......I want a refund!

Best Answer

That feature is not working and yes, I have an Android Galaxy Note 9.

Hi Steve, first time using the community help center. I've had my fitbit sense for 3 days and I've tried everything to connect to my samsung s9+ to my goggle account. I am not tech savvy at all, please help!

"It seems so" is not a best answer for me. Having the sense for a couple days now I can confirm there is no sound enabled on it whatsoever.  This includes alarms, etc.  You can hit answer phone calls  on the watch, however, you need to go to your phone to talk.

@gregmg the post after mine (by @N8teGee ) corrected my post to say that although we will be getting the ability to take calls on the Sense, that feature is not available on day 1 and is coming "soon".

As far as I am aware, Fitbit have not made any comment about using the speaker for any other purpose (although you would hope that they make some use of in the future!)

I was curious too, as the promo materials mention being able to make calls right from the Sense watch with the phone just nearby. However, when accepting a call, it gets received only on the phone, cannot be heard /talked on the watch.

After some searching, I found the answer directly on Fitbit website...

Google Assistant and Bluetooth® calls coming late 2020.

Total mis selling by fitbit. I'm returning mine its poor, no call handling via the mike you have to use your phone. No Google assist, no music apps without premium services and quite a few health features require premium to get full info. Its a rip off and total mis selling. Complaints going viral #Non Sense

@Paulm3 So taking call directly on the watch is not coming? I am considering returning my sense...
