Can't export ECG results in PDF

Hi - I got a new Fitbit Sense, and am able to run ECG and see the results.

In the Fitbit mobile app on my iPhone, I wanted to export a scan result in PDF just to see what it looks like. I went through the steps but never got any push notification.

Does anyone also have this problem?

Hi @Gr4ndp4 - I just ended up uninstalling the Fitbit app, and reinstalling it on my iPhone. Now I'm able to get the ECG PDF file within 2 secs.

I upgraded from the original Versa, I guess some cached data within the app was preventing the PDF generation.

I haven't done this in a while but I don't recall ever getting a push notification; I think the results were just there;  getting the PDF exported was another adventure; I think I ended up saving it somewhere on phone, then emailing it to myself to look at on PC.

That's exactly where I was to export in pdf. But I never got any notification. I went to the Files app on my iPhone and didn't see those pdf files either.

Hi, @bluesky2022, "Everything you need to know" about sorting ECG is here What is the Fitbit ECG app?  . Reading through it it seems you've completed the steps you need to but I'm not familiar with iPhone (it works well enough on my Android). One question I have is are you connected to the internet via Wifi or cell signal while you wait for the report to arrive? My understanding of the process is once the data has been synced with your phone it needs to go to the Fitbit server and be returned in PDF form (if I'm wrong perhaps someone will correct me).

Let us know.

On Android also.  Just did another ECG 10 minutes ago but results didn't show up yet, but I click on an older result, I get button "Export a PDF for your doctor", then "exporting PDF", and almost immediately notification PDF is ready, and PDF file is in DOWNLOADS folder on phone.

I'm on a fast WiFi connection. But I don't think generating the PDF file should go through the Fitbit server.

Once the Fitbit mobile app syncs with the device, the app should have a copy of raw data (and it may send a copy to Fitbit server) and the app itself should be able to render a PDF file locally.  It's just counterintuitive and counterproductive to send the data to the server to render a PDF file and send it back to the app, which deposits it to a local mobile phone.

Hi, @bluesky2022, I do know that when you look for "Sleep" stats in the morning you need to sync twice, the first gets the data to the phone which sends it to the server for processing, and the second populates the app with detail it only takes a few seconds. My understanding is that back-office server support is at the core of the Fitbit setup.

Have you followed @JohnnyRow advice, have you seen a PDF yet?

Let us know

Hi, @bluesky2022, I've just completed an ECG and mailed it to myself, it only took a second to appear, perhaps you are right. On that basis, I wonder what can be holding up the process on your phone? May I suggest you go into your app tray and open the Fitbit app, clear the cache and force stop the app? Restart the app, syc and try another ECG on your "Sense". Let us know how you get on.

@bluesky2022   Glad to hear that.  It didn't affect you, but there is a hidden potential danger in deleting the fitbit app for some people.  Fitbit has raised the minimum iOS and Android version requirements such that some people with older phones are still able to run the app, though perhaps not with full capabilities. Then they run into a problem, delete the app, but then are not able to reinstall the Fitbit app because their iOS or Android version is too old, and they are out of luck.
