Difficulties with sleep/SpO2-Sense

1. Sleep tracking appears to be total trash! I haven't had a fitbit in 6-7 years & that old, basic device seemed 10x better at sleep tracking! This thing says I'm asleep when I was wide awake & vice versa.

2. Main reason I bought the sense was for O2 readings. And now that I have one (wanted this for years now). I learn not only can I not check O2 on demand, but it will only "track" it during sleep (see #1 above). and only if I chose 1 of the only 9 available watch faces? Seriously?

None of the marketing/product info I read...ever mentioned any if these limitations!!

Why can't it track o2 all the time/ on demand & also track it without being limited to a specific watch face?

3. App says it needs location permission. Ok! But when I click in it to allow....it says it's all set...but the alert never goes away! 😩

4. Temperature- ummmm...if it can track it...why can it not do it on demand??

5. I have yet to even find/figure out how to receive/see any text msgs or incoming calls from my phone!  It shouldn't be hard!! Why is it not automatically connected during setup when first connecting it to your phone??

Seriously....this watch & app is beyond disappointing!! (Not to mention delivery was a huge headache bc FedEx showed it delivered-while I was home & sitting with clear view of anyone approaching- and it never was!! So fitbit had to ship "another" one.)

I'm both mad & sad.

Hi @SunriseRun487  I can't help you with all your concerns, but here goes.

1. If you sit for a long period and don't move much, like watching a movie, it thinks you're sleeping.

2. Actually, the sales information does say you need a special watch face - see attached screenshot from their sales information.

@Odyssey13 however, the same sales information doesn't mention SpO2 is measured only during night.

Or I just can't see this little detail...?🤔

@t.parker  there is an article that says "Your Fitbit device uses sensors to estimate your blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) while you sleep."

Yes, and I can use Google to find that information myself but that's not the point. The point is that the information should be there, in the device features and spec. Who hunts for help articles before buying any item? I think this is what @SunriseRun487 was referring to 🙂

@Odyssey13 As @t.parker asked, does the SALES page link you posted, mention "while you sleep"?

@TommyIzzo and @t.parker  I would think anyone interested in a product would first check out all available information from the seller. When I got a car recently, I checked out the manual for it and asked questions before purchasing it. Even with my $100 printer, I read and asked first. Guess not everyone does, but when it came to buying a Fitbit, I did extensive reading first. It's something anyone with internet access can do and it's most helpful to know what is being purchased before taking it home.

@Odyssey13  I usually check feature list and spec but not dig in too deep. Simply, I return item if it doesn't meet my requirements and I always try to test everything within return window. Look at this from different angle. Shouldn't it be explicitly mentioned that the feature is limited if every competitor device supporting such feature supports on-demand reading? On-demand SpO2 measuring is pretty much standard today and it should be clear in spec and features that Fitbit is limited to sleep-only tracking. You can't blame customer for the company leaving out crucial detail on the sales page 🙂 If I was moving from my watch onto Sense I would probably take it for granted after reading spec that SpO2 is fully supported as it is in my current watch (all-day, all-night and on-demand measuring) and as it was in my previous watch 🙂 Fitbit's limitation is unusual for this market and this feature hence should be very clear to the customer.

Hi everyone, and welcome to our new member.

Before anything else, thanks for stopping by to share your feedback about the Sense. I understand where you're coming from about not having SpO2 and skin temperature tracking on-demand and I'm sorry for this inconvenience. We're always working to improve our devices and features, and the input we receive from our members is a big part of the process. While this data can be recorded during your sleep, I'd encourage you to share these ideas in the Feature Suggestions board so our developers can take them into consideration.

@SunriseRun487 To help you with your questions, first let me recommend adjusting the sensitive sleep setting and restarting your watch to refresh its performance. Wear it about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone and monitor its behavior in the next days.

About your other inquiry, take in mind that you can also install the SpO2 app to track this data regardless of the clock face you're using. You can find more information here.

In regards to the prompt displayed on the Fitbit app, this has been reported to our team and they're working to identify a solution. While there isn't a time frame, your comments will be passed along to keep our team informed of the impact to you. In the meantime, make sure to keep the Fitbit app updated.

Because your post didn't mention, may I know the model of your phone? I'm asking this as the requirements to receive notifications from an iPhone differ from an Android phone. If you haven't done so, review this help article which describes instructions and troubleshooting tips to get the notifications working on your Sense.

See you around.

That says OR swipe your dashboard. It doesn't say you HAVE to use a special watchface to even track it. (Which btw...mine still reads "---%" bc this watch is a complete joke!

As for "sleep tracking" It seriously doesn't register HALF the time I'm actually asleep.

1. I did install the Sp02 app...doesn't seem to work!

2. Seriously starting to wonder if Fitbit sent me a refurbished version or something! (Perhaps since FedEx falsely claimed to have delivered it the 1st time...so Fitbit shipped another one....which they refused to ever tell me if they even contacted FedEx or anything about the supposed delivery. So maybe it was all a lie to begin with. 💁‍:female_sign:😡)

3. To answer your question: phone is Android (Samsung s10+).

4. Seriously...I hope mine is defective bc it's total junk. I finally got msg notifications to work...but now the watch keeps turning on with a message to set up the wallet by connecting to Samsung PAY! That's the last thing I want to connect to this unreliable, unpredictable piece of crap!!! Which also won't turn on half the time without me having to push the side button. 🙄😖😫

5. How do I return it??? I've never returned anything I've bought online, but the longer I wear this thing the more I absolutely hate it for all the marketing lies/deceit & false (or absent) data readings!!

I will never buy another Fitbit product.
