Will the new Sense have Golf GPS Capability ?

I'm not sure I understand the question but if you are referring to a similar feature such as the Garmin Fenix series of watches where you can download courses and follow them on the watch then no. If you are talking about turning on GPS and running around golf courses for fun then yes??

That is what I wanted to know, thank you-I think there is an app that can be downloaded on one of the other fitbits, Not really a must have.

For Golf GPS, i'd suspect the question is whether there is an "app" that allows you to view distance to the hole when golfing using the GPS on the watch/phone. You may not have the ability to download the course, but can pair with your phone and use your phone's data service or download the course to the phone itself. I thought there were apps with the Versa that allowed you to see distance to the pin on the Fitbit as the data is coming through the phone and didn't require the course to be downloaded to the Fitbit? Was this never possible?

Looking into this further there were a few apps (Golf GPS, Game Golf) that supported this on the Fitbit Ionic, this was limited to the Ionic because it had onboard GPS. Since the new Versa and Sense have onboard GPS hopefully these apps will work with them as well instead of only working on the old Ionic.
Any word from Fitbit on this?

@bobby2478 My quess is it is not a Fitbit app but a developers app. You would need to ask them

What @WendyB said. However the SDK update supporting Sense / Versa 3 has not been released (yet) so the developers, even if willing to do it, can't update their apps.

Do we know if the app Golf GPS will work with the new Sense?

Need someone with the Sense to see if this app is in the app gallery for download. I get mine on Monday and can check then.
Same question goes for Game Golf app

As the development tools for Sense / Versa 3 (aka SDK 5) are not fully deployed developers can not yet update their apps to support the new Fitbit devices.

No - it's not in the app gallery. Giampi71's response seems to be a good explanation. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Hi @BVike @bobby2478 @Dlinehan - there is now a new version of Golf GPS available for the sense. I have been in contact with the developer and he has updated the app for Sense. Nice to see that will also automatically track your 'Golf Exercise' in the background!

Hi all,
Thank you for your interest in the golf GPS. Ive upgraded it to sdk5 and published it this week. The core of the apps works great but some reports were made that time displaying and exercise tracking did tot work. The new release is under review by fitbit and will solve these issues. The simulator works different than the actual watch, so I could not test real behaviour.
Download the app here:

The previous version was free, since I primarily made it for myself. Now 99% of time goes into troubleshooting and supporting watches that I don't have. Therefore I made it a paid version. Feedback or questions can be asked here, I will subscribe to this post.

Hi Pietero,
I have the Sense and used the app yesterday. It worked for the first hole but then it seemed to be adding the yards for each hole? The second hole said 800+ yards and the third hole said 1200+ yards. Not sure if I did something wrong. Today I uninstalled it and reinstalled. So maybe it will fix whatever I did.
Thanks! Elaine

Elaine,
That is very weird behaviour. And when you move back one hole, it gave the correct distances again? I do assume that you switched manually (or the app did automatically) to the correct hole. The holenumber is in the center top of the screen. Can you send me a private message and tell me what course you were playing on?
A new version for Sense is on it's way! It is under review by Fitbit. I hope they will approve it today so many of you can enjoy the new version this weekend.

I switched manually. I will send you a message but I don't know how to do a private message here. I'm very new to fitbit so haven't been on these boards before. How do I send a private message? Or, I can fill out your form here https://smartwatchgolfgps.com/?p=support? I assume that goes to you?

Thank you Elaine. I just downloaded and will try it out tomorrow.
It's my home course so I really don't even need it, so it will be good to get the kinks out..
thank you again.

Hey Pietero, looking for an update on how the app is looking now on the Sense. About the invest in my first Smart Watch and leaning towards the Sense but a Golf App is a must have for next spring. Apple seems to have a lot of Golf Apps but my preference is to stay with Fitbit as I love all the other features Fitbit offers.Let me know the status of where it is at....
Any feedback from any other Sense users on the App would really be appreciated.

Dave,
I am like you-wanted golf GPS.
I got the Sense and did download the GPS app and used it last Summer / Fall.
I would say it is "OK". It is finicky to turn on and does not automatically go to next hole-which is not a big deal, but I play a very l play a very old course with tees right near the greens, and also always walk -so if you forget-you end up playing the wrong hole. I have airmailed a few by mistake.
The yardage is accurate - front and back--but if you're used to a garmin or other - it's not quite there.
Maybe they get the kinks out next year with an update or 2. I will say it is nice to get all of your fitness info in ne place.
Hit'em straight
Bill

Hi @Muirda,
The status is that it works OK. The app got some updates already but due to the long review process by fitbit they havent been published to the watches yet. You can download a beta which has the latest updates.
Download it here: https://gallery.fitbit.com/details/e14bbc83-86be-47cd-9c34-00496ab3ebea
The GPS point in my database are accurate but the question is how accurate the built in GPS device is in the sense and versa 3. My results were that they are pretty good. The versa 2&1 use the phones GPS and will therefore always show the distance from your phone to the hole.
