Does the Sense have the ability to spot check SpO2 any time?

I know the Sense has the nightly SpO2 tracking, but does it have the ability to spot check SpO2 any time? Is the SpO2 still shown as variations on a chart or can we access actual percentages? I have a lung disease and all I am looking for in a smart watch or fitness tracker is the ability to check my SpO2 at any time.

Thanks!

If you have a lung disease buy those super mini PulsOx devices that read your pulse and your O2 levels.

They are very accurate, medically approved, used at hospitals and ultra portable.

They don't cost more than $40-50 the very good ones'.

For the average user who doesn't mind having a questionable readout of his O2 they can buy the Fitbit. As far as I read, they don't give readings on demand. It's on a graph, as you sleep, with a subscription.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I have one of the finger PulsOx devices that I regularly use. However, it’s not always the easiest to wear and monitor when I work out or ride my bike, thus my wanting a Fitbit or other fitness watch tracker that could show me where I’m at (I know not to take it as 100% accurate, but a general number would be helpful) with just a look at my wrist.

Hi, @Reha.britt , Fitbit has just released an SpO2 clock face for the Versa models and the Ionic, and it will be coming available to some of the Charge models in the very near future.  This clock face will do exactly what you have in mind - give you at a glance your levels on your wrist.  It will not be available in all countries, but will be available in US, UK and Canada and some EU countries.

Although I have not heard officially, I am quite certain that this clock face will also be available for the new Sense, which is very much focussed on health and wellness.

You can read about the SpO2 clock face here

@Reha.britt Just to add to wha@Julia_G said, yes you will be able to see an actual number.

I'm not sure the SPO2 clock offers spot checks. I found this in one of the help files:

"The clock face shows data for your most recent sleep session. If your sleep session is split into 2 separate logs or you take a long nap, the clock face updates to show data for the most recent sleep session after your device syncs with the Fitbit app."

The spO2 clock face only shows a night time reading, an overall average, highest and lowest readings. So in this case, completely useless for what the OP has in mind. The advice that @SunsetRunner gives is the correct answer here.

@Reha.britt  I insist that you keep your pulsOx for accuracy especially when you have lung disease. Fitbit themselves state that you should not use it for medical purposes. Since you know about your diseases, I suppose you have been medically evaluated. Keep using what the doctors approved. If you want to use fitbit while you bike, hoping that with all these bike-vibrations it will still be able to measure your status, then do it. But after finishing playing with it, use what's proven and recommended.

Agreed, no fitness tracker/smartwatch is as accurate as a dedicated, medically approved device.  There are however other makes who do offer on the spot SpO2 assessment.

Ah, okay, it looks like I misunderstood.  It seems it only offers your most recent overnight reading.

@SunsetRunner I will definitely be keeping my PulsOx. I was not planning to get rid of it or stop using it for accurate measures. My plan had just been to see trends on a tracker. For example, if I start a bike ride at X% and then at halfway through the ride, if I’ve dropped 9 percentage points showing on the watch, I’d stop and do a more accurate check with my PulsOx to see where I’m actually at. I’ve been living with this disease my entire life and have learned what devices to use for accuracy and what ones to use simply to notice general trends.

@SunsetRunner Certainly. And I know better than to use it as equivalent to the PulsOx I currently have, or one used by my doctor. I’m more interested in watching trends as opposed to specific numbers.

The SP02 Signature clock face is not installing on my Versa 2. it's just rocking back and forth for the install in the app. Are there server issues? Yes, i'm connected to Bluetooth because the device is syncing when i go into the app.

Same here trying to install on my Versa 2. One would expect an indicator of an installation happening would indicate that an install was happening! 😉

I guess nobody knows what's going on with it.

I think the OP's use case is perfectly legitimate. You can't wear a PulsOx device all the time, and spot-checking all your vitals on one convenient device when you can't use proper medical equiprment is perfectly fine. Unfortunately, there is no update yet on whether this feature will ever be available on any Fitbit device.

@sanman202 mint installed without issues, but a friend of mine ran into problems similar to yours. Try switching to different clockface and then installing again. You can also try rebooting both devices, putting versa in the charging dock and installing again.

Re SpO2 measurements and trends. Fitbit will provide only measurements made during sleep. For that one needs spo2 clockface which will show average % spo2 as well as the range of values recorded. Premium users will have access to trends and chart via Heath metrics dashboard that is coming out soon.

@Julia_G I have the new clack face and it does not exactly work like you stated. Even per the manual "display to users the average and range of their blood oxygen saturation as measured during their most recent period of sleep." You cannot just look at the watch and get a reading of your SpO2 what you are getting is the average from the last nights sleep and the range. This is better than needing to look at your sleep score but it is still not real time readings.
