ECG Location Not Working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi all.

New to the Fitbit community, so hi! Set up my Versa 3 today and the ECG report is saying the feature is unavailable in my country, but the UK (where I am) is listed as a operating location.

I've rebooted watch and phone, it's a brand new install so firmware is up-to-date, as is the ECG app, which I've reinstalled.

On my profile it's showing as GB/London. Can anyone help?

I'm having the same problem with a brand new Sense. I'm in the UK and the UK is listed as having the ECG app available and working on Fitbit's website, but it keeps telling me it's not available in my country.

I found my Fitbit profile didn't have a location listed so set this to the UK but that didn't work.

I also tried disabling wi-fi on my phone to force the phone to use mobile data to confirm location in case there was a problem with my wi-fi location (I know my ISP has had problems in recent past with buying IP addresses from other countries which cause problems if servers don't update their IP info regularly) but that didn't work either.

Hi,

I'm having the same issue, I bought mine today and it’s fully updated to the latest firmware but it’s still telling me that my location doesn’t support it 😑

Where did you guys buy your Fitbits from? I bought mine from Amazon UK and I'm wondering if this has something to do with "location" being tracked for purposes of installing apps by where the devices were manufactured rather than where the user is - e.g. Amazon selling devices on their UK website which were manufactured somewhere outside Europe. This kind of thing has been known to happen on other kinds of devices but would be pretty stupid for Fitbit not to have accounted for if it's by accident. Some brands have done this in the past to strictly stop (and entirely prevent) users from using VPNs or travelling to other countries to activate features that they shouldn't be able to use in their home country where the device is mainly used.

I also found other location settings in the Fitbit app on my phone - where it decides whether to set a specific location or set to "Automatic". I tried both manually setting my time zone and location and also allowing each to be set to Automatic, but neither of these fixed the problem. I did notice however that when switching on "Automatic", my time zone remained correctly set to London even though it was greyed out, whereas my location defaulted to United States when greyed out or turned back to manual (although this shouldn't have been a problem because ECG is also now authorised in the US too).

The fact that no location settings fix this and neither does being tracked by either wi-fi or mobile network work suggests to me that the problem is in-built and decided by device serial number (manufacturing location) or something similar - and could be something Fitbit have done on purpose to stop users being able to activate ECG in countries where it's not permitted.

I specifically bought my Sense for features such as ECG and specifically bought it from a UK retailer, so if this isn't fixed within a month I'll be returning my Sense for a refund.

I'm having the same problem. Went through the online chat support and told me the app isn't compatible in the UK for a few more weeks.

I've told them it's false advertising as he sent me a link saying it's compatible in UK?

This is so poor!!!

Mine was Amazon initially but the original and replacement had arrived with the watches stolen!!

So went to John Lewis instead badger refund. ECG was big sell for me too as I have AF.

I bought mine from Argos, I’ve been through all my settings too and made sure they were set to the UK but nothing’s worked!

This anything to do with Brexit? As other EU countries (France, Germany) listed. Surprised UK having issues, especially as it's listed on the working locations

Bought mine in Canada from Amazon Canada and didn't have ECG app until i moved to Italy as in Italy the app is available.

My profile was/is italian and it's not affecting the availability of the app.

Only the location should affect it...not sure what will happen when i go back to canada...if i'll be able to use it or not.

I bought mine from Curry’s so would like to think all UK settings already applied. Though looking at the user manual for the ECG app it says that your firmware version must be at 5.0. Not sure where you find that out?

Ok well we've got a range of UK retailers so I guess that rules out the manufacturing location idea unless by some bizarre coincidence they all use the same supplier, which is probably unlikely.

Hi,

I'm from Poland and the same...'ECG is unavailable in your country'! Poland is on available country list: https://www.fitbit.com/global/us/technology/ecg

Why?

Mine was from Currys so same as another lady said.this should be set to UK already. When I spoke with online they said it's not compatible in the UK for a few more weeks.

I'm in Germany and I have the same problem. Just got my new Sense today and whenever I try to to access the ECG report feature on the app, it tells me the feature is unavailable in my country despite the website saying it should be.
I checked my location in every possible setting, restarted my phone and tried restalling the ECG app, but it's still not working.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one, I was a little worried, especially since the watch is brand new.
