Hi @niall1986. It's good to see you around.
I understand how frustrating this can be and thanks for taking the time to troubleshooting your Sense. Just to confirm, were you doing a specific activity when the Exercise app crashed such as checking the Fitbit app? Do you recall since when this started to happen?
Even though you've tried restarting your watch, please give a try to the following steps:
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Even I am facing this issue. Exercise app in my Fitbit sense is not openning and if i click on it then it comes to main screen again. Restart didn't fixed the issue and currently from past few days it's not even openning ... Can it be fixed please ? Is Android based watch is a mistake even if its such a expensive one !!

@trips_31 Contact customer support or try a factory reset.
FYI: it's not an Android-based watch. It doesn't run Wear OS. It's Fitbit's OS.

Hi there, @trips_31. @eezeepee Thanks for stopping by to help our member.
@trips_31 Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot your Sense prior to posting. This isn't the behavior that we expect from this watch, and I'm sorry you're having this experience. Because the restart didn't help, I'd also recommend contacting our Support team so they can see what can be done to bring you back on track. They're available via chat and phone, just click here to get connected with them.
About your other question, as @eezeepee mentioned, all our Fitbit Smartwatches including the Sense run Fitbit OS technology. You can find more details about it here.
Have a good one!

Same with mine now. Add that to gps dropping out and the heart rate being wildly incorrect. They know the product is a mess. Given its many failures from the start I have zero faith in the sleep and other metrics being correct. They should have bought back all these junk watches to protect the brand long ago.

Does not work. Tried it!

I've been having this problem for several weeks now. My Sense records the steps as usual. It acts like its recording my actvity (in my case a walk). I START and END the activity as usual but the walk never shows up on the app...just the steps. During the walk I get the same "GPS" will try to reconnect" in the same places I always have (there is a dead spot in my walking park). That was never a problem before.
I've done all the steps suggested here including removing and re-pairing the device several times. Doesn't solve the problem. Very frustrating, especially considering how expensive these devices are. Its as if when the Sense 2 (which is getting bad reviews) came out, the Original Sense lost support.

I am now experiencing the same issue. Exercise app won't start. I contacted support and they had me restart my Sense, which I had already done. They then said that there was nothing more they could do and transferred my case to the warranty department. My Sense is 13 months old, so it's no longer under warranty! They offered a 35% discount on a new Fitbit. I don't think I want to spend the money on another Fitbit that will stop working when it's just over 1year old. I'm very frustrated!

Mine is the same! I only wanted it for the exercise tracker and it doesn't work 😕

Found solution here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Sense/Exercise-app-does-not-open-on-Sense/m-p/5300601. Involves doing a factory reset on your watch. I had the same problem and it worked for me.

Doing a factory reset did resolve the problem. I wish the initial support person had asked me to do that.
