Fitbit Sense completely died in less than a year

Hi all.

I have taken excellent care of my Fitbit Sense, and I've enjoyed it since I've had it. I researched the differences between an Apple Watch and Sense and decided that the Sense was the way to go.  I'm waiting for warranty repair to contact me but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone else had their Sense completely die before the warranty period expired?

What is the lifespan of these watches and do you know how they compare with the lifespan of Apple watches? I'm sorry but a $200 investment should last longer than 12-16 months. Every discarded item contributes to the landfill waste problem. I actively look for well-made items that are durable, with software updates to keep the item relevant for a reasonable period of time. This is responsible consumerism. I will do without before I support a churn and burn commercial philosophy to keep customers buying a new item every year.  Interested to hear other customer feedback and experiences.

Thanks.

The excellent news is that Fitbit is replacing my Fitbit at no cost to me. The reorder happened quickly after my troubleshooting call.  That is a sign of a responsible company.

Hello,

I am on the same boat. I just published my disappointment with the quality of my Sense, the policy and the services provided by this company.
Back in OCT 20, I paid $329.95 for my watch plus $19.95 for shipping and $19.25 for taxes, totaling $369.15. After eight months, my Sense died out of the blue. The unit was replaced because  - luckily, I had the one year warranty.  Last Friday. the replacement sent (once again did not last one year), died and it's all black: I am unable to charge / reset it and I can link my app to my watch.
I've contacted the support and in a nutshell, the customer support agent confirmed that Fitbit Sense is in fact, an expensive disposable watch that can't work a full year and you can't even replace its battery and try at least to extend its lifespan. After 365 days, just throw away your piece of garbage - exactly like those $5 vending machine watches.

Same here, just over a six-month time period. It looks like gone.

I trust you checked the cable to make sure all

pins are equally prominent?  This is a known issue and some mistake a dead sense when in reality it is the charging cable.  Please check that, if not done so already.

I'm so glad it worked out for you!  Mine died at the 13th month mark and they replaced mine, however the replacement died after less than 4 months.

Honestly, I don't think they make them like they used to, but that seems pretty standard for all smart watches/phones in general.  I get maybe 2-3 years on my smart phones these days.  I don't feel like I'm particularly rough on my Fitbits, but I do wear them pretty much 24/7 and I'm getting about maybe 2 years on average.   I've been through about 7 Fitbits/replacements in the past 10 years - the one that lasted me the longest with no issue was the original Versa - my mom still uses it.

IMO, everyone wants the newest, best thing, so companies make them with the intent that it will be replaced by a newer model within 1-2 years.
