I recently completed an organised 26.1 miles walk for charity and was very disappointed with the accuracy of the distance reported by my Fitbit Sense. I would expect a small variance, but my Sense suggested I had covered 30.23 miles, a difference of over 4 miles and is clearly not right.
I ensured that the GPS was connected at the start and stopped immediately that I completed the course.
Other competitors were using a mix of Apple watches and Garmin devices and returned results just over the 26.1 miles which is what I would have expected.
Such a discrepancy is causing me to question whether I should switch to an alternative product.

Hi, @ChrisNewick, welcome to the community, you may find the section on GPS in this article How accurate are Fitbit devices? of interest. You may also be interested in Huge Openwater Swim GPS Test // Garmin, Apple, Wahoo, Polar, COROS, Suunto - YouTube by DC Rainmaker to understand how various devices tackle GPS positioning.
I hope this helps.
