so if I can't trust it to tell if I'm even awake or asleep how can I trust it with any other metrics? Especially the more detailed ones? To be honest since a lot of the features rarely work or are plagued by bugs it's not much of a dilemma, I think I'll just return it. Does anyone know the best equivalent device from eg Garmin, Amazfit, Polar etc? Thanks!

The thing is Ilthe main issue and thing I wanted to track with my sleep is how long I'm actually asleep! I often wake up very early and find it hard to get back to sleep. But I might well be lying still in bed breathing slowly trying to get back to sleep for hours. So if I can't trust what fitbit is telling me I can't know if I was asleep or not. This was one of the main uses for the fitbit for me, as when you're not sleeping well you're tired and can't remember exactly when or if you managed to get some more sleep or not. So I was relying on the fitbit to shed some light on this.... But now it seems that it can't.

@Qlqlp Real sleep is characterized by different types of brainwaves. No fitness tracker can measure these, so Fitbit and other trackers use data that show that your wrist stops moving and there are changes in your heart rate and breathing rate. I don't think that you should rush off and buy a different brand. This article in Wareable rates the Sense as the best among sleep trackers. The Versa 3 should be equal to the Sense, since they use the same OS.

Thanks for the info LZ. I think if it was just this one thing I'd take your point but it's just been one bug after another since I got the sense and nothing seems to work properly with it. When I Google each problem I've had they're are loads of posts showing I'm not alone so I'm just sick of it and fitbit at the moment.
