Fitbit Sense not working after Swimming

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I went to the pool yesterday and I swam for about 5 hours with breaks in between.  I checked my watch many times while I was swimming and it was working just fine.  When I had left home in the morning it was at 100%.  When I went to check my fitbit sense after swimming, it wasn’t turning on or even vibrating when I pressed the side button.  I assumed it was just because the battery died after all day of swimming so i let it charge over night and it still is being non responsive, not turning on when i click the button or even syncing with my phone.  This is advertised to be waterproof up to 50m deep so i was very confused as i only swam in water as deep as 7ft and my watch never went that deep.  Are there any ways of fixing this without having to replace this? I got this watch in December of 2021(with now being June 2022, less than a year having gone by with me using this thing) it’s the first time I go in the water for an extended period of time so I am very worried especially since this watch is so expensive.

Hi, @RuffleRobot Your "Sense" is able to withstand long swimming sessions. You should contact "Customer Support" here, I recommend you use the chat facility or phone for a prompt response.

Hi. Please can you tell me if you can see how many lengths you do while swimming. Or do you have to wait till your watch has sync to your phone

Hi, @Bubble29 You can personalise the "Sense" display to show the data you want while swimming, you just need to flick your wrist to illuminate the display, bear in mind that while swimming the water lock is engaged. How do I track my swims with my Fitbit device? provides advice, check out the manual .

I hope this helps.

I just had the same thing happen. I've tried a number of things including keeping it on the charger overnight in the hopes of getting it to start working. Its only 15 months old and it has failed. This is my second Sense to fail just after the warranty period and my third fitbit to fail in under two years. Not really very happy with them at the moment. The last time it failed that gave me 20% off. This time nothing. Seems they are really having some quality and dependency issues. Probably time to switch brands.

Hi, @lakerjb, it's a pity you are having this experience with your Fitbit "Sense" Have you checked the charging cable? Closely examine the 4 little pins on the surface that contacts the back of your "Sense". They should be slightly proud of the surface and free to move a little (they are spring-loaded) gently wiggle with your finger. If they are not in order you can get a replacement on Amazon or alternatively talk to "Customer Support" here (I recommend you use the chat facility or phone for a prompt response)

If the pins are in good order clean the back of your "Sense" with rubbing alcohol and a cotton pad and rotate a cotton bud soaked in rubbing alcohol in the little dimples where the pins locate. Warm soapy water works but just not as well as rubbing alcohol.

I hope this helps.

So as I understand you don’t have to lock your sense Watch with the swimming mode. You can just dive in the water like swimmingpool or in the sea. Please let me know if I’m right or not. Thanks

Hi, @Joëy welcome. From the clock screen swipe left to exercise>swim>start arrow. You will now see a count-down circle & "Water Lock" then the display data screen. Once the circle is complete water lock is engaged. When you finish your swim squeeze the side button twice quickly to get "End & resume" (you will need to wipe excess water off the screen with your thumb) touch end to finish.

I hope this helps.

Thank you but I know that. My question is if you really need to do that? I’m scared that I forget. I’m not a swimmer so I just lay in the water and enjoy 😉 and as I understood when I both my sense it is waterproof for a depth of 50 meters so that is why I both it. I don’t want to think about my watch when I go for a dip in the water 😊

Hi, @Joëy, I'm a daily swimmer and the force of habit sees me start the device as I described. Going in the water without the water lock on will not brick it. Auto-recognize for swimming is a feature and you do not engage a water lock first. Your "Sense" does not have a "water lock" icon. If you are concerned submerge it in water and you will see no problem.

I hope this helps.
