Fitbit sense and android free phones

Hi all, i have a huawei p40 lite.

It doesn't have/work with android, but has huawei play store & other means to get certain apps on the phone. 

I have downloaded the fitbit app & it seems to work. I don't own a fitbit so can't say for certain that there's no problem.

I'm looking to get the fitbit sense once it hits south african shores, but I'm scared that I'll be wasting my money. 

Anyone with a p40 model & a fitbit or a latest firbit version who can help answer my question? 😄

@PunkPixie It seems to work with p20 though you need to make sure you turn off the battery optimization for Fitbit app on your phone.
