Fitbit sense stopped working and in reboot loop today

This morning I was trying to access the workout app from my FitBit sense (less than a year old) - the device was probably around 70% charged, and each time I tried to access the app I'd be taken straight back to the home screen - so I held down the power button to restart the Sense.

Since then, it's been stuck in a reboot loop and no matter what I do (putting it on charge, holding down power button), it continuously reboots after a few seconds of displaying the FitBit logo (and it vibrates to indicate this).

I'm really disappointed as there doesn't seem to be any way to get out of this loop, can anyone help please?

Update - I had some excellent help from Joseph at FitBit support and the following worked for me:

1. Don’t plug the Fitbit device into the charging cable.

2. Press and hold the button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off.

After the screen turns off, you will feel a short vibration:

1. When you feel the vibration, release the button and immediately press and hold the button again.

Wait until the blue logo appears, then disappears:

1. Immediately release the button and then immediately press and hold it again, until you feel a vibration.

2. After you feel the vibration, release the button.

■ This vibration indicates they started the factory reset.

Nope, did not work for me. Endless loop, forever.

Actually... I finally got the reset to work. But now it's saying my data hasn't cleared and the updates failed. I just don't know at this point... though it's nice to be out of the loop-ing reboot heck.
