I ahve been using a fitbit of some type for almost 6 years now and I am very happy with the product as of now.
However I have noticed that the distance to some set landmarks, (i.e, the distance from my house to a stop sign approximately .5 miles away.)
Over time the distance to my set landmarks change.
I am curious if this change is a reflection of improved accuracy or is it an idication of possible inaccuracy over time? I would really like an answer to this question as I use and rely on the validity of the data to track and record my workouts. I use it for walking mostly, however I enter all of my workouts regardless of type, e.g. walking, weights, running, rowing, etc.

You said - the distance to some set landmarks, (i.e, the distance from my house to a stop sign approximately .5 miles away.) Over time the distance to my set landmarks change ... reflection of improved accuracy or is it an idication of possible inaccuracy over time?
If you know for sure the stop sign is a half mile from the house then no, the Fitbit tracker isn't getting more accurate over time, it's obviously becoming less reliable and it's something I've been on about for some time now. When I first started using my Sense, it seemed that it was spot with another app (Runzi) I use running in tandom and the known/landmarks distance I am running. For instance, from my driveway I go left toward the first street, I then turn right onto First street and then a right onto Second street I then run past the first part of third crescent to enter Third Crescent on its next entrance on the right where I run around Third Crescent back out to Second street - When I get to the corner of Thrd Crescent and Second Street, that landmark is exactly 1KM and has been that was since I have been using the Versa 2 and into the first couple of months of using the Sense...but...yeah now, compared to the Runzi app, I am losing about an 1/8 of a KM per KM in the FItbit app and gaining about 15 seconds of pace time per KM. My most recent run was last night, according to Runzi I ran 5.74KM @ a pace of 4.58 for a total time of 28.31 minutes, the Fitbit app showed 5.47KM @ a pace of 5.13 for total time of 29 minutes. That's a huge difference!!
