Get ECG reports before syncing my Sense

Hello Fitbit community,

I bought a second hand Sense recently essentially for ECG purposes. Before syncing the Sense with my phone’s app I took a few ECG. Everything seemed to go well when performing the 30s scan except that I did not get the first message asking if I wore the watch on the left or right wrist. I then installed the app on my phone, paired it with the watch and discovered that unfortunately those important ECG that I took were not listed. The next ones that I performed are well recorded and available in the Reporting section. Is there a way to retrieve the first ECG that I took before pairing and syncing phone to watch?

Thanks a lot

Christophe

Good morning. I don't think the first one will be available anymore if it was recorded before the watch was paired with your phone. I don't think the watch itself stores a lot of information, it syncs it to the phone app & then to FitBit servers. I might be wrong, but I don't think you will ever see the first ECG you recorded without being connected to your phone.

But what you are saying means you always have to carry your phone if you want to perform an ECG?

I am reading that the Sense has 4Gb of RAM, I thought this could have been to at least temporarily save some fitness, running or ECG data until you resync to the phone…

I believe the Sense has 4GB of ROM for total storage (not RAM, RAM is different than ROM storage). I'm not sure how many ECG's the watch stores by itself, maybe just 1 and the next one overwrites the previous, I don't know? I would not expect the watch to save much without syncing with my phone, that is true of almost every smartwatch out there today.

@Christ0phe  The fact that you were able to perform an ECG before installing the app sounds like the previous owner didn't do a factory reset before selling it.  That data from the first ECG can't transfer to your account, because the device wasn't paired to your account when you ran it.  Also, you don't need to have your phone with you to run an ECG.  I have a Sense 2.  I turned off my phone, then performed an ECG.  I wound up doing it three times, because the trace was very noisy and couldn't be analyzed.  All three reading were on my app when I turned my phone back on.

The fact that you weren't asked about your wrist also suggests that the previous user didn't do a factory reset before selling.  You get asked this during initial ECG app set up.

Thanks @LZeeW, appreciate the information. It was actually @Christ0phe who performed the ECG without being paired with the app, and asked the original question. Your information helps.

Sorry, my fingers got ahead of my brain and I tapped on the wrong name.  I fixed my post to make sure @Christ0phe is tagged.

Hello again,

It happens that I know the person who had paired his phone with the Sense before giving it to me. The files do not appear on his Fitbit phone app either. Hence my question if it was possible to retrieve the files directly somewhere on the watch...
