Can somebody explain this? Thank you. It went down to 79 and up again for 5 mins.

It's not constant or "live" . It tracks every few minutes. Any movement can trigger a slight increase which will display until the next time it measure your heart rate.

It makes sense if the wrist is there. But it was counting 84 79 83 for ten minutes with no wrist
