How do I find if the Sense runs OS 5.0?

I read online that the Fitbit Sense ships with OS version 5.0.  https://9to5google.com/2020/09/25/fitbit-os-5-update-navigation-ui/ Does anyone have this? Mine says it is version 44.128.1.42.  I tried a chat with FitBit, but they really didn't have any answers other than to tell me that my phone was not listed as being compatible. It seems the only Samsung phones listed as being compatible are the older models. I'm using an A51 5g, and Android version 10, so it should be fine, but I'm just confused as to why I don't have OS version 5.0.

I think you do have OS 5.0.  The version you refer to is the firmware version, which can have several updates within an OS Version.  The easiest check for OS Version 5.0 is if, within Settings, or an app, you can do a right-swipe to take you back one screen, and the button push takes you back to clock face.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Well, that's good to know! I was wondering whether OS and firmware versions were the same thing. The FitBit support person didn't know this. Yes, I can swipe to get back one screen, so I guess I have 5.0 after all! Thanks very much!

I agree version numbers can be confusing.  You also have the software version of the app, which is something totally different.

Where can I see the OS version?

In two places. On the watch swipe to find settings, select it and scroll down to 'About Versa 3', select and then select 'System Info' the top number (42.128.1.42 for the Sense and 36.128.1.42 for Versa 3) is the firmware version number.

On the app tap on your profile picture to go to the tracker screen where you can synchronise, select a clock, add apps etc. and at the top it will say the current firmware version and battery status.  This is for the Android app and I assume iOS is similar.

been answered but OS 5.0 is the generic name for the major release that's running on the sense. You could not buy a sense that doesn't have 5.0. The specific firmware release # is different and is what you see on your watch as the version #.

I find it odd that there is no documentation of the mapping from OS version to firmware versions.

I just got the sense but I can't get the SP02 app to install. It says i don't have the required OS. Any idea how to activate it?

It's rumored that if you do a factory reset it will get you the update
although if it were me, I'd just wait until your app displays the pink
banner and then follow the steps it shows. Go into the app, click your
profile photo in the upper corner, then click the image of the sense.
You'll see the page that shows buttons for apps, clock faces etc. That's
the page that will have the pink banner when your update is ready. Click it
to begin. Update is rolling out now but patience is needed.

Hmmm...I actually ready yesterday that if you do a factory reset you may NOT get the update. Would be nice if fitbit would be a bit more forthcoming...

very interesting! maybe too many people figured out that workaround (or
would) and they turned it off since there's clearly something they are
trying to control regarding the distribution.

@DaveS3  @ExBrooklyn Seems a bit sophisticated to turn it off - more likely the correct procedure for set up a device [of a factory reset watch] was not followed if it didn't get the latest version. There are flaws in the procedure as well and you can trick it NOT to get the latest version in some cases.
