That's all the information fitbit gives.  They do not reveal precisely how it is calculated/measured.  Some say it is supposed to be the lowest value recorded during waking hours; some say lowest value during 24 hours; some say heart rate when you wake up in the morning;  we don't know precisely what fitbit uses but they have a lot if data to use, and probably consider it a competitive advantage.

Whatever the method is, as long as same method is used consistently, it served the same purpose, to look at trends to see changes in fitness, and possibly tell when getting sick or stressed.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
