Hi, @Retg, welcome to the community, you may find this article of interest How do Fitbit devices sync their data? You can manually sync your device with the app on your phone at any time you desire. On the "today" screen on your app just slide your finger down and release, alternatively touch your icon in the top left corner of the today screen> touch the Sense tile> touch sync now.
I hope this is helpful.
Cheers

There are several aspects,
First, the watch must be paired and linked with the phone so it can talk Bluetooth and is known to the App
Second, the watch and phone need to be able to talk to each other [without necessarily syncing] for notifications to work
Third, the watch and Fitbit App need to sync to transfer the data
Fourth, the Fitbit App needs to sync with the Fitbit servers over Internet but there is no indication if its success or failure, other than you don't have the SpO2 or other info in the App.
Sync only needs be done, as @Gr4ndp4 has shown, when you wish to see the current information in the Fitbit App.
This can be done rarely as you like as most of the information is on the watch. If you swipe left and click on the Today app you get most information, or if you have a good clock face that's all that's needed.
However to be sure not to lose data don't let it go more than 4 days without syncing, may be sooner if you are doing a lot of activities.
You can check the state of the sync and connect with SimpleCheckUp from the Gallery.

Hi @Retg you can sync as often as you like. I have some friends who log out of the app and then they log in at night to sync. It really is an individual choice. These devices hold a lot of data, so even if you went a few days before syncing, it would be fine.

How often is it suppose to sync, this is controlled by the fitbit app. At one time it was every 20 minutes, I'm not sure if this has changed.
I find that my watch does not have to be paired to the phone, in order to give a successful sync.
It does need to be paired for notifications, gps, weather, etc.
And if you want to see the last time the tracker successfully synced. The fitbit app will tell you.
