Intermittent Sleep Tracking

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My sense has begun to intermittently not record my sleep. Some nights it does not record sleep at all, and some nights it records part of it, but not even close to the whole time I am asleep. Other nights it does perfect. When it records, it does so properly. Over three hours gives details, and under three hours it doesn't. It just flat out doesn't know I am sleeping for some reason.

I clean the back of the watch every night before I go to sleep. I set the watch to "do not disturb" each night. I make sure my band is not too tight, and not too loose. My phone is within two feet from where I sleep. I confirm that the phone syncs right before I go to bed. I am doing the exact same things I always have, since I bought the watch.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Blazinpistol  -  it's normal that the sleep stages only show for more than 3 hours sleep, that's how it works.

Depending on how your night goes it can have greater success or not.

For periods of less than 3 hours it may just show sleep.

Rather than manually setting do not disturb, set up a sleep schedule. In the watch Settings, Quiet modes, at the bottom Schedule Mode. Set your normal hours.

This helps because you don't have to do anything, night and morning, and the watch is prepared for you to be sleeping so may record better.

It's also a good idea to Shutdown and restart your watch occasionally to remove any issues that may have accumulated.

It can happen that the App doesn't show something correctly and then go into the phone's app settings and clear storage and force stop the App - it generally resolves such problems.

Thank you for your reply.

I may not have worded that correctly. I was making the point that I understand the modes. If less than 3 hours no details, over 3 gives details, etc. I understand all of that. The intermittent problem is "some nights it does not log ANY sleep at all."

I reboot the watch periodically (at least once a week). But, not every day. In my opinion, if I have to reboot it every day, that would indicate there is a fitbit problem.

Anyway, I love this watch. Just hope I can get it to log my sleep consistently.

@Blazinpistol- Yeah had got that, but as the minimum for sleep to register is an hour sometimes being too restless will cause a disruption. Did you set a sleep schedule ?

Also it could be an issue with an update, was any update done recently that might cause this issue or has it always done it?

Agreed, it can be a good watch.

Of course you can contact Fitbit Support directly, as this is just a users forum. They may be able to help you.
