Is Fitbit losing 3rd party app support

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was using Fitbit with MapMyRun for a few years.  It worked great.  Now it is no longer supported. I’ve confirmed this with MapMyRun.  I’ve noticed that some of the other apps I use, no longer syncs.

Is Fitbit reducing third party app support?

That's a good question. I can no longer find a link to the partnership page n the home page.

Api by Fitbit are still present. Its the third part app tht need to implement it.

But in general I'm agreed it seems lots of apps are not more interested to part with Fitbit (look at Strava that remove there app from the ionic/versa)

It could be related to the development process, due to issues with OS 4, following the introduction of OS 5 (Sense & Versa 3), in some cases it's no longer possible to make changes that work on all watches.

Also development for OS 4 has had end of life mentioned, that means apps may not be maintainable in the near future. This could become an issue.

Lastly if there is a change with a different type of OS, it would be a major rewrite, not worth it for the small number of Fitbit users in comparison to other brands. Of course an OS change may also alter things in other ways.

The poster is talking about the partner apps that used to link to your Fitbit account. This has nothing to do with the OS or the apps on your Sense.

I use connected shoes with Maymyrun.  Fitbit used to work great.   Even with Strava. It seems that Fitbit is closing the circle on partner apps.
