I've encountered several issues with the Sense and wonder if others have the same problems and have any solutions:
1. Heart rate monitoring with strenuous exercise is much too low ...many prior threads and posts on this without as far as I can see the appearance of any Fitbit moderation or explanation. In the gym today the heart rate was hardly moving so I swapped with my trainer's Versa...30% increase in measured heart rate to what, physically, I would expect. Just to add my voice asking Fitbit to please sort this out. I can't understand why you haven't. All the new "health metrics" stuff on the app is couched in such vague, relative terms it's impossible to tell if any metric is good, or more importantly a cause for concern, I expect for liability reasons. Shouldn't an exercise watch that gives a low heart rate reading when exercising strenuously be something of similar concern to you, since this may well push users to exercise harder than they safely should to get their heart rate up to what they think it should be and end up hurting themselves? Please solve this before such an unfortunate event happens! Also the low heart rate leads to a low calorie count which in turn affects the cals in v cals out in the nutrition part of the app.
2. I use the Sense when boxing training (I use the kick boxing exercise mode), I put the Sense higher up on my wrist and then put the wrap over it before tying up. When doing both focus pad work and when sparring, the Sense goes into pause mode, seemingly arbitrarily, and you need to press "resume" on the screen (difficult as it's under the wrap) to get it started again. I thought the screen might be turning on accidentally so I changed the screen wake to "button only", moved the watch to my left wrist so the button is facing up the arm and thus not prone to accidentally being pressed, but to no avail. The screen doesn't seem responsive once it's timed out, which I wait for before putting the wrap over it, so I can't understand what's causing it.
3. Weirdly, if I take the Sense off, particularly in the evening, despite the fact it clearly can't be taking a pulse measurement, it sometimes thinks I'm asleep and logs sometimes 1-2 hours as sleep!
It's a pity as in many ways, the Sense is a great exercise watch but, certainly for issues 1 & 2, it's a bit of a deal breaker for me. Luckily I still have my old Ionic, so I've started using that again instead, as at least I know it works properly on both counts. Hopefully, Fitbit, you can sort out these issues before my Ionic stops working!
