If i listen to the music on my smartphone and i try to change the song using the controls on the Sense (by pressing the arrow |>) instead of changing the music it raises/drops the volume. I tried with 2 apps (Mi Music and Google Play Music), but i always get this problem. Dunno if it is a problem with my phone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro) or what. Anyone got this problem and knows how to deal with it/fix it?

Hello, I have a Mate 20X and I use Music Huawei and Google Music, I have no problem, all the icons work fine.
Try to deactivate the Sense Controls, unpair them from the mobile, turn off and on the smartwatch and the phone and reactivate the Sense controls. Good luck

I tried with another phone (Motorola Moto G5) and it worked at the first try. I really think it is a problem with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro at this point.

I have Android, Samsung Galaxy S10+ and the "next track" and "previous track" arrow buttons and the "pause" button all work fine. Only thing I'd suggest is to reboot the Sense and your phone after pairing to see if this helps. When I first paired Sense Controls I had an issue with pause not doing anything but it appears to work fine now.
On a different note, the only place I've found to access this on the Sense is by double pressing the button and in the shortcuts pressing the music icon. I'd figure there'd be an "app" or something but nope (there is a "media" app but that's for the subscription services and i'm assuming to download music). If you scroll from left to right to access quick settings there is a volume icon there but it only controls volume, not music playback. Is there any other way to access the music playback control function?
Lastly, while on this screen to control music playback, with the new button function where a single press of the button brings you back to the clockface, is there the ability to turn off the screen manually? Or do you have to wait for the screen to timeout?

Hi Marco. I just moved over from WearOS to a Sense, hooked it up to my Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro, updated the watch firmware and I have the same bug. It doesnt seem to matter which music app you use (I used Youtube Music), the 'Next Track' button reduces the volume, and the 'Last Track' button increases the volume.
The equivalent music controls app worked fine on WearOs and even Pebble with my Mi phones.
Looking through some old posts in the Fitbit Community it looks like people have been talking about this bug since 2018 and Fitbit still havent fixed it.

Hi jason. Sadly, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro is not a supported device for Fitbit Sense. I know this since the fitbit support replied to my questions telling me that this is not a bug, but just that the phone is not supported... You can find the list of supported phones somewhere in the faq section. Useless to say that i found this answer disappointing. Yeah i understand that there are milions pf phones and that can happen that you don’t full support all of them, but it is a simple media control lol even mi bands do that without failing (30 euros bands vs 320 euros watch). It is misleading that they don’t say clearly which phones are supported, forcing you to read the faq section. Plus that section is not even clear since it just sums up the most expensive phones, leaving out like 90% of phones.
I gave back the sense and bought a tic watch pro 3 (which is funny since i did the contrary of what you did ahah).

Support also told me Youtube Music isn't on the supported music app list, but did list Google Play Music which was shut down just last month (I had to migrate from GPM when they stopped streaming).
I just moved from an original Ticwatch E and was only after a replacement because the screen now has serious burn in, the battery had worn out and the GPS wasn't very good for tracking. It was a great watch but it just got old.
I was going to buy a Ticwatch Pro 3 to replace it but decided to get a Sense as it seemed more appropriate for health tracking, was a more established brand that I could get locally, and the reviews seemed to be very good. If (or when) they say my phone isn't supported I'll probably return mine too and get the Ticwatch Pro 3.

I didn't think it was app related. Even with no music app running it will change the volume with the track buttons so I don't think it matters which music app you actually use.
It's probably something to do with Xiaomi MIUI and how they handle Bluetooth music controls (although these controls work fine with everything else...)
