I got a fitbit sense for Christmas, 2021. It died and was replaced in October of 2022. That watch went black and will not revive as of yesterday. Since the original watch arrived in December of 2021, the replacement is out of warranty. I am not impressed with the fact that I have had two fitbit sense watches expire at roughly the 9 month mark. I'm not terribly hard on these things. I wore it daily, and used it mainly to track steps and exercise. Until yesterday morning it was fine. How long can I expect that a fitbit will last? Is there any reason to believe that the Sense 2 will be better?

Ultimately, you received 2 watches at no cost to you, so this really isn't a question of whether you got your money's worth. Your ROI is infinite.
Will the Sense 2 be any better?
Hard to say. You may have an amazingly magnetic personality that toasts any and every digital watch you touch. And none of us really know what those watches went through. Heck, you might have simply had the pleasure (and luck) of owning a couple of lemons. Past performance, is of course, not a guarantee (or an indictment) of future service.
I've persoanlly gone thru an Ionic, a Versa, and now running with a Sense 2. Three watches in 6 years. None of them because they failed. All of them, because I wanted a feature that the one before, didn't have.
In the end, it is simply Caveat Emptor. And start using it as soon as you buy it, so that you get the full 12 months of warranty!
