Not sure if anyone else had a similar issue. Came back from holiday beginning of September and charged my Fitbit. When trying to use it, it l told me to download the Fitbit app
Turns out there is an update.. tried several times to install it. It seems like the Fitbit is syncing in the app but the device itself is stuck on "please download the Fitbit app"
Spoke to support a couple of weeks later because I didn't manage to get to it. They realised there is nothing they could do after troubleshooting.
Sent me an email asked me where I bought my device only to reply that it's out of warranty and they would offer me a "generous" discount of 35% on a new device. I checked when I bought it and it was literally bought on the 1st September 2021. So Fitbit can now make your device obsolete with the click of a button once they think you should buy a new device?
Seriously? I

Same issue. Mine is 13 months old and has the same problem. Tried everything to clear it and no luck. Started with wrong time and then " screen of death appeared when down load attempted. This is my third Fit Bit device. Never again. Go to Garmin.

Yes mine was 16 months old and went thru there chat and offered me that 35 % discount I was insalted by that ask to speak to supervisor and also contacted the BBB then and the next few days got an email saying there going to send me a referbished one and it was a one time deal. So far so good as soon as I got it I did the update and has been good since . Just letting you all know my ordeal.

Thanks, might try to get a refurb off of them, but likely not worth the time or hassel to do it. If they read these posts they "Should" offer good customer service satisfaction and just send me an email to obtain a replacement.

Where are you based? Mine is 24 months old but I'm in the UK where warranty is 2 years, not 12. I have contacted them on X (Twitter) and they send me the same cut and paste answer. I have contacted the Guardian as they sometimes deal with consumer affairs. But I will also try the ADR scheme.
If you are in the UK I will definitely take it further with you! @Kedrondells

So strange! Mine did the same thing. Had the wrong time for a few hours. Got that fixed. All seemed well then screen went black. It's at medium battery. Or was. With the number of people this happened to on the last few days, it does seem intentional. I've had a fit bit since the first little one with the dots came out. Just ordered a garmin yesterday. They wanted me to purchase a new device it seems.. so I sure will.

I emailed them an official complaint and eventually got sent a link to a replacement watch. I think you have to be a little tenacious.

Same thing with mine.. this isn't the first time I've had an issue with fitbits notorious updates and I have made the mistake buying the entire family their products. Mine died and is out of warranty.... and they were sooooo gracious to offer me the same bull**ahem** discount they offered you. Who would buy a product that is this defective again? At this point imma take a hammer to this paper weight I've got and try to forget my mistake of going with them again.
