Overestimated calories burned

Hi,

I bought fitbit sense just a couple days ago and created a new account on fitbit. With the new account, I see data for step count and calories burned for the past. Also, I see calories burned count is 1400 even when I was not wearing the device. I understand that it is reset midnight but how can I burn so many calories even if I am not wearing it? Can someone please help me understand these two points mentioned above?

The 1400 calories would be your daily BMR calorie burn.  Fitbit includes your BMR (basal metabolic rate) calorie burn.  These are the calories you are always burning just to stay alive.  Fitbit always credits these, even when you are not wearing the watch, and they are filled in for your history as well.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
