hi guys,
when I first got my watch, I could tap the watch face or raise my wrist and the face would turn on. Now it won't. I have to basically hit the watch face to get it to turn on now, and it won't turn on at all when I raise my arm.
what's up with that?

Yea, same here. Until they push out an update to fix this I've changed it to an always on display. takes 2 - 2 1/2 days off the battery life, but given how quickly it recharges it's not that bad.

Hi all,
First, make absolutely sure that you don't have sleep mode enabled; some days I've gone well into the afternoon before realizing that it's still on. Similarly make sure that 'Quick View' is enabled on your device settings.
Second, I found that the screen turning on is a function of the natural wrist 'twisting' as much as it is the lifting of the wrist. So perhaps try to lift your wrist with a little more 'flick' than normal.
Lastly, I wonder if this works more reliably for right-handed vs. left-handed users. The motion would be the same but its mirror image. This is not making excuses for Fitbit, I'm just gathering more information. Are either of you left-handed?
I hope this helps.

Not left handed, but watch is on my left hand.

Same here. Turning the wrist quick does help a little, but then my elbow starts to get sore. 😅

Make sure settings are correct. First from quick settings (swipe from left to right), make sure it's set to auto. Similarly, go into settings app, display, and make sure it's set appropriately there as well. Lastly as was said make sure sleep mode isn't enabled.

Mine stopped doing the quick view when I lifted my wrist yesterday, after it had been working since I got it. I went and looked at the app, and it had gotten turned off by an app update. Make sure Quick View is enabled on the app, and Automatic is set on the watch settings for screen wake.

I got fed up with lift to wake as it seemed like it was always waking the screen even when i didn't want it to, which I suspected was eating away at battery life. So i switched mine to manual so it only wakes when I tap the screen or press the button. But tap the screen to wake is buggy and barely ever works (hopefully is fixed with subsequent firmware update).
just FYI if you select lift to wake, you may see decreased battery life depending on how often the screen on the sense is waking unecessarily. Not every time i lifted my arm did I want the screen to wake, and so it was waking up a lot more then I needed/wanted it to. The more the screen is lit up the faster the battery will drain.

With the forearm somewhere close to horizontal +-30° a smooth twist the wrist of 90°, the Screen will turn on.
If not check the settings @PureEvil pointed to.

Hi everyone. It's good to have you on board and welcome to our new members. @PureEvil and @Rich_Laue, thanks for your great help!
Thanks for sharing that the Screen Wake isn't working correctly on your watches and for the steps tried on your own. I'm sorry that you're having this experience and please know that your feedback won't be taken for granted as it will help us to improve our products. In regards to your watches, may I know if you've checked your watches settings as advised by @PureEvil? If not, please swipe right from the clock face on your watch to access the quick settings. Make sure the Sleep Mode is turned off and the Screen Wake is turned on.
If the screen is still not turning on despite of checking the settings, try performing a restart and let me know how it goes.
I look forward to your response.
