Sense 1 - heart rate not reliable?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

This morning I went to a walk and I climbed a steep hill, as you can see at the start I had 20% grade.
Sometimes was hard to breath and my heart was pumping and I could feel it in my chest 🙂
But the Sense 1 didn't get it and I am sure that it wasn't 103bpm at that moment.
I am wonder if all my HR is off on this watch... this could be a bummer 😞

Hi @idris51 - unfortunately the HR readings are not that reliable when moving on the later models. It may work for some but for others it may over read or under read.

My Sense (1) drastically underreads high heart rates. It's ok with resting and light movement changes but when I do anything that gets my heart rate high it's frankly useless. Sometimes by shuffling it around on my arm, taking it off and putting it back on, rubbing the sensor on my clothing and putting it back on I can get it to acknowledge that my heart rate has gone up a bit but i dont think it's ever recorded my higher heart rates.

It's not a small percentage either. doing heavy leg sessions or stair master type work I can hit 160 - 180+ bpm and if anything my sense thinks my heart rate has gone down compared to doing less strenuous exercise. the highest i have seen it record when I have a 160+bpm going on is around 135bpm. It's often way less accurate and claims 100 - 120 when my heart rate is 160 - 180.

I would say the sense is the worst and most inaccurate heart rate sensor i have used and its my 3rd fitbit.

This has nothing to do with moving or bending wrist as most of this is legs and stairs.
