My Fitbit app has intermittently stopped showing sleep stages (rem, deep, etc). Now shows Awake, Restless or Asleep. Now it offers no sleep score. The Sleep stages, Benchmark and 30 day buttons are also not there on the days it goofs up.. Looking back, it's been happening for a long time but I pay very little attention to the awful Fitbit info until I notice the bad data and it begins to annoy me.
It also has intermittently started providing info that's pure jibberish nonsense that has no relationship to my actual sleep which historically is going to sleep between 8 and 10 and sleeping until 4 to 5 am.
For example for March 31. it tells me I slept from 3:15 am to 4:48 am for a total of 2h 56m. That total is 1h 33m the way the rest of the world does math.
For yesterday, it tells me I slept from 8:56 pm until 10:55 pm. I actually slept until after 4 am. Today it tells me I slept from 12:02 am until 4 am. I was actually asleep before 9 pm.
The worst Fitbit offenses seem to occur when I have very active days. Yesterday was 15125 steps and 222 zone minutes.
On April 4 I had to work exceptionally hard and had 18255 steps and 364 zone minutes. The sleep for that night was all goofed up but I was allowed to edit it and it recovered perfect information with all the rem and deep sleep periods.
This is the new way for my Sense and app v.4.40. I've turned off the Sense to reboot it repeatedly and I restart my phone to see if that makes a difference. It doesn't. Sometimes I'm allowed to edit my sleep and it will recover and display proper info with proper sleep stages and a sleep score. Sometimes it will add an extra sleep period and account for it at times and other times not. The last few days it's telling me Can't save sleep session and blah blah.when I try to do an edit.
I'm sure the fault is with the fitbit app since the proper data does exist in the watch. Sometimes the app is able to recover it, most of the time not. Do you know of a pre-googlized version that doesn't have problems? App updates are rolled out every few days to fix bugs but none of them fix my bug which may have started last year.

I have issues with sleep data also, but it started with app version 4.39.
It doesn’t count steps accurately, I seldom get a Breathing Rate, so no sleep score, and my Heart Rate Variation shows 0, the sleep data says it’s “about normal”.

Here's a good example of how badly broken the fitbit app really is. This is from last night.
I went to sleep around 8:30 with a plan to wake up for a minute at 9:24 to push a button on my phone and terminate a running procedure. Indeed, my phone woke me up, I turned off the 1 hour timer alert and pushed my button. I immediately went back to sleep got up once for a bathroom break, slept until 4 am, and laid around a few minutes before getting up.
The first picture shows how the fitbit app calculated my sleep. 1 am until 4:49 am. Please note the absence of Sleep stages, Sleep score and the buttons to change between Sleep stages, Benchmark and 30 day. Also know that even when the sleep session properly records and displays, the buttons are non-functional and all three display only the current night.
The second picture shows my attempted edit of the sleep to reflect the true sleeping time. No sleep was logged during the time period between 8:39 and 1 am. Surprise but fitbit really did save my edit.
Going to the third picture which shows the updated sleep screen. Fitbit changed my wakeup time from 4:49 to the correct 4:10 am and decided to change my go to sleep time from 1 am to 12:02 am. Then add a second sleep period from 8:38 to 11:59 pm. So, it "woke me up" for 3 minutes to give me credit for sleeping when I actually slept but completely botched the hourly calculation between 8:38 to 11:59. It's 3h 21m between these two times. Not 2h 47m.
So what is this all about Fitbit? Please consider this to be bug report. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy A53 running Android 14..

Last night this stupid app said I slept less than 2 hours and produced all the same errors. I dumped the app and reinstalled it. It came back showing the proper amount of sleep, the sleep stages and a sleep score for last night. Maybe the buttons are even working now. I do get a screen change when I push Benchmark. When I push 30 day average it says my average is what happened last night after reinstall. I imagine the app is ignoring the ridiculously butchered up data it has recorded for me this year.

Stupid Fitbit app worked properly twice in a row. Last night it went back to producing the same garbage.
