Sense apps freeze (Alarm, Timer, Settings, etc...)

My partner has been having issues with the Alarm app on her Sense for a while now.  At some point, she stopped being able to edit alarms (tapping them just froze the app), but she was still able to add new alarms.  There were only 2 alarms saved when this behavior started.  Now she has reached a limit of alarms (a warning in the app tells her this), but since she can still not edit alarms there is no way to delete any of them, nor is there any way to enable/change/disable them.  The app just freezes and quits when attempting to edit an alarm.

This is now extending to other apps that simply won't open (Timer, Settings, etc...).  This is especially problematic, since no access to Settings means she can't factory reset the device, the only solution we've seen to similar issues.

There is also no access from the phone app to edit alarms, or to factory reset the device.  This is ridiculous.  It seems that feature was removed at some point (at least editing alarms, not sure about factory reset).  Add this to the long list of confusing and disappointing decisions made relative to functionality and/or bugs that have been plaguing both of our devices.

She has tried:

- Restarting the device, many times

- Updating app and firmware to the latest versions available

- Uninstalling/reinstalling the Fitbit iOS app, multiple times

I found a website describing factory reset using just the hardware buttons, but it isn't on Fitbit's site, so I would like to confirm this is actually a recommended procedure in this situation before proceeding.

Questions:

Is this a known issue with Sense devices?

Is there any way to fix this without factory reset?
Is there a Fitbit method to factory reset when the Settings app doesn't work?

Thanks.

Well, for what it's worth, I actually did a support chat for this.  The third-party website's instructions for a hardware factory reset were accurate and are not documented on Fitbit's site for "reasons".  The process did not work on the watch, however.  Either the button is too finicky to accurately hit the several release/press timings, or the procedure just doesn't work right.  Warranty exchange it is.  Hopefully the next one is better.
