Sense heart sensor pauses or stops working during training

When I’m exercising and have my Sense in any of the exercise modes the heart rate sensor arbitrarily stops working. I make sure the watch is fitted properly but it still keeps doing it. It’s really annoying. Is there a anything I can do to stop this happening?
