Thanks so much!

I’ve had my Sense for a couple of years and has always been pretty accurate but recently it’s started counting an astronomical number of floors even though I haven’t taken a single staircase. One day it counted 82 floors! I have restarted it and done other troubleshooting as advised but it’s still doing it. I noticed a few others posting about it too. Seems like a bigger issue than just me that started recently.

It is calculated on the change of altitude, so even if you walk up an inclining footpath the change is counted as climbing stairs. It makes sense since you exert extra energy to climb an incline compared to a flat surface. Climbing stairs of course appears to be more accurate, but rest assured, the inclines (even if minimal) add up. It is a combination of steps and flights that combine to increase your fitness. If you find the flights is not enough, you change your walking route to include more hilly bits (and vice-versa if for some reason you think you are climbing too many flights (but why would you not want to do that?)

@craisin  - it would make sense if floors counted towards calories but apparently not.

Thanks for your comment. Not everything is calories. Stamina and general fitness (as well as heart health) are also relevant.

I should know since I am 73 years old now and find the slightest incline a challenge (my picture was taken 25 years ago).

All I know is that I feel stronger if I include "stairs" as a goal in my routine (although I become breathless in the process at times).

I must admit that when I had that wonderful Fitbit Ionic (Adidas edition) the stairs calculation seemed more factual. I have yet to determine how stairs operate under my new Sense watch. It may take me a while to get to love this watch as much as my last one (Recalled and stopped by Fitbit)

@craisin-  the actual steps you do do will make you healthier or feel healthier, the false ones are just noise.

It would seem the Ionic and Versa were great watches.

On this screen press the edit button, on the next screen press the x on floors then DONE to finish. The same if you want to turn it back on.

What suggested by @rfprice62 hides the floors visualization from the smartphone app, it doesn't solve anything.

I don't want to turn "floors" off. I want the floors to be counted
accurately.

I only posted this because somebody asked how to turn it off.

When I tried it actually threw my steps off too so I turned it back on.

I had two Ionic’s prior to getting my Sense, never had an issue with stair climbing accuracy.  The Sense started out accurate, but since a month after purchasing, has been off the charts.  It has me this week alone with 512 flights of stairs.  This “watch” is a major disappointment

Agree. Mine started ok. Now it shows that I do over 50 stsirs a day. Not correct.

Same here.  The last three days, my Fitbit Sense has recorded over 100 floors.  Any fix for this yet???

It's been well over a year since Fitbit introduce this bug and frankly, I don't think they well fix it.  They rather introduce new features then fix what broken.

Hopefully the new Google Pixel watch will be a good replacement for the Sense.
