This has happened 3 times already!

This morning my sense gave me 28,382 steps between 8:30am and 8:45am.. I hadn't taken any.

On February 8th, my sense gave me 38,423 steps between 6:15am and 6:30am..  And awarded me a "Hiker's Badge"  I was sleeping!!

January 5th, it gave me 3,797 steps between 8:15am and 8:30am.

Why is this happening and how can I adjust??

Hi @AnaSrq, what were you doing at those times?  The only way that you can adjust the steps is if you were to put the Fitbit in "Driving Mode", but this only works before you actually get in a car (or do whatever activity you were doing).  Unfortunately, there is no other way to adjust the steps.  As far as the badge goes, the only way to get rid of that badge is to contact Support directly (link is at the bottom of the page).

I understand that at least for one of the instances, you were sleeping.  Did you put the device anywhere near a fan or anything else that vibrates?  It probably tracked the motion of that object if you did.

could you have or someone else in your home used your phone or a phone or tablet you have the fitbit app on? because if they by chance turned on tracking in the app and carried phone or tablet it would record those steps and add them to your account. it called mobiletrak in the app.
