Sense is not coming even close to tracking pool laps

I swam with my sense for the first time - did 14 laps in a 25 meter pool which is 700 meters (and 28 lengths, ~765 yards) and it indicated I swam 1039 yards. That's off by 35%. That's crazy. And I can't find any help on what the settings do or don't do.  It appears you have to set them for every swim? Nuts
