Sense is still charging slowly

I posted on this very subject a number of months back, & still the issue will not go away & I am somewhat peeved off with it, so much so that I am now going to ditch the Sense & Fitbit too.

It is Thursday 3rd June at 17.40, I started to charge the Sense at 14.35 today using a high power plug in charger that was recommended to me by another Fitbit user, its now only up to 91% after 3 hours of charging, both the watch & the charging unit were cleaned with an alcohol based solution before charging, it really is not worth the hassle & I have to put down the very large amount of money I paid for the item as wasted money.

Fitbit I am disappointed in your response to this problem as I hear nothing from you on the matter.

Now I wonder where  I should look fir a new unit?

Accepted Solutions

As it doesn't work with the replacement charger either the watch must be faulty.

As it's under warranty can you get it replaced where you bought it? First choice, or contact Fitbit again for a replacement which might not be a new one.

So are you set on getting it to show 100%?  What happens if you charge it for 20 minutes?  I always just charge a few minutes at a time and it charges quickly at first.  I don't especially care about reaching 100%.  If I can get it mostly charged in 20 minutes, I don't sweat the rest of it.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thanks for replying Johnny Row.

I just want the thing to charge in a reasonable amount of time, I seem to recall that today it went from 4% to about 16% in the first hour so at that ratio it would have gone to 8% in 20 minutes, which is 12% an hour, 24% in 2 hours, 48% in 4 hours, etc etc., that to me, is not an acceptable rate, 8 to 10 hours to charge a watch is 8 to 10 hours that you are not wearing it & I am sure the manual says it should only take 2 hours.

@daddybrubeck  A sense will charge fully in just over an hour from virtually flat. [Though the last 1% takes about 15 minutes to get to 100%.]

What you are experiencing isn't good.

There are known issues with the chargers - check all 4 pins are equally prominent.

As its under warranty, probably best to contact Fitbit Support directly. They may be able to help you with a new charger, if necessary.

Hi Guy.

Thanks for your reply.

I have had the issue with the provided charger that comes with the phone as well as with a charger I got from Amazon that was recommended by a Fitbit poster on this forum &  that can be seen on the below link (if it is allowed to work in this posting).

The curious thing is that sometimes when I connect it to the below referred to charger it will charge within the advertised time, however on other occasions & despite me cleaning both charger & the watch it will take hours & hours to charge as it did a day or so ago  here is the link to the charger I use, but it may not work once I post this reply:

@daddybrubeck  Thanks for the info, looks like a good charger, so if you still experience problems, recommend replacing the watch under warranty as that is not normal, the support link was posted already.

In the interim also consider a clock face such as SimpleClockPro which keeps track of charging time on the watch so you no longer have to monitor it, it also predicts when it will be fully charged [under normal conditions] so you can compare the actual with the expected.

Although not normally a USB supply issue, you can still try using your PC as a power source and note if there any connection/disconnection sounds during charging which would indicate a problem.

So disappointed with both my Fitbit Sense along with Fitbits Customer Support's response to the "Charging Slow" issue (which is basically nothing by the way) I have had from day one & which is well documented on this forum. I have now come to the conclusion that the £213 I paid for the Sense, less than a year ago, along with the £13 I paid for a Cavn "Fast Charger", have both been a complete waste of money as no matter what I do I cannot get my unit to charge within a reasonable time. I put it on charge today at 08.30 on 23%, all contacts were cleaned with an alcohol based solution, its gone from 23% to 30% in that 30 minutes, that's a rate of 14% charge per hour, it can be seen that its going to take a long long time to charge up, furthermore I have to do this every 3 or 4 days.

I have just paid £40 for what I will assume will be a Chinese Smartwatch to an Ebay seller, that watch will arrive in the next day or so. It cannot be any worse than the Sense (and that is a pretty shocking statement for Fitbit I would think).

The Sense will be assigned to the back of the drawer along with all the other stuff that doesn't work.
