Sense is tracking rowing exercise twice

New Sense issue:  Maybe FITBIT App issue.

I have a Concept 2 Rowing machine.   I have my ERG data connected to Fitbit.

I finally have my Sense notifying me with my heart rate levels.   However, now I get 2 entries each time I Row.   One from my Sense showing workout and the other from my ERG data saying indoor rowing.   ugggg...   Do I have to manually go back and delete one of them?

@gaylestuff It's good to see you here in the forums.

I'm glad you're receiving heart rate notifications and thanks for bringing this to our attention. I understand your thoughts on this and to work on this, could you check if SmartTrack is turned on? With this function your Sense can automatically recognize your certain activities based on the continuous movement of your arms. Even though rowing doesn't appear in that list, it seems your watch logged it by mistake to give you credit for your efforts.

That being said, please try the following steps to turn off SmartTrack:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap the Exercise tile.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top right.
  3. Tap an exercise, and adjust the duration or turn off Auto-recognize.
  4. Try recording your rowing exercise as Workout using the Exercise app on your Sense.
  5. Once you're done, sync with the Fitbit app and check your details.

@LizzyFitbit Thanks for the instructions, unfortunately I dont see any Exercise tile on the Android Fitbit app or the Web app. I have a Concept 2 rower but from other responses here they said that Fitbit does not support rowing as an exercise? I was hoping that just wearing this rather expensive smart device would figure it out, but it doesnt. Which is said as the Apple watch provides a lot of nice information for rowing.

Hi there, @YetiFit.

Thanks to you for reviewing my post, as well as sharing your feedback about the Sense. Please note that the SmartTrack, which is the function to automatically recognize certain activities, is found in the Fitbit app. On the other hand, the Exercise app is installed on your watch and allows you to manually start, and stop the exercise tracking. Because Rowing isn't yet an exercise shortcut, I'd recommend choosing Workout to record this activity.

Our team continues working to include more exercises in the list, and the feedback shared in the forums is a big part of the process. If you haven't done so, please vote for this idea posted in the Feature Suggestions board. Even though it's not currently planned, our team left voting open to keep tracking this request over time.

Thanks for the reply. It is sad that apparently 2,573 votes and being in the top 5 requested features tagged as "Under consideration" or "Not currently planned" means nothing. I have to admit that the moment the other Android smart watch has a longer battery life than 18 hours is the moment the Fitbit will lose this customer. Pretty much the only thing that keeps it on my wrist is that it has a battery life of 2 days. Blows my mind that an exercise the like rowing is not supported. I mean, there are rower pretty much in every major gym in America. Crazy that Fitbit doesnt recognize this market. I wonder how many people do not buy a Fitbit because of this?
