My brand new sense will not track my steps properly. I’ve tried everything. It’s not the clock face, it’s updated, I’ve synced it. I’m beginning to think this was a bad purchase. Is something wrong with this bunch? How do I fix it- I’ve tried everything I’ve found and truly thinking this thing is defective at this point.

It would help if you could be more specific about "tracking steps properly". Could you give some idea of the error amount? Some might say it's a big error if they take 500 steps but the tracker says 495 or 505. How much do you think it is off? Or is it that it is not recording any steps at all?
Is it all the time or during certain activities, such as treadmill walk? Do you think it is recording too many steps or too few?
