Sense randomly changing time

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My sense is randomly changing time to one hour later. This happened multiple times over the last few days. Syncing does not help resetting time, time will eventually switch back to the correct format. At this point the watch is not usable for its prime purpose as showing the time.

Location

  • Primary ireland
  • Place of issue Tenerife (same time zone)

I assume it might have something to do with fitbit thinking Spain is cet (which is correct for mainland Spain) however the canaries are in gmt as is ireland

Troubleshooting:

  • Restarting watch and phone
  • Unpair and re-pairing
  • Disconnect from network

App-Settings in fitbit

  • Automatic timezone enabled
  • Automatic location enabled

Android settings

  • Automatic date and time enabled
  • Set time zone based on location enabled

Versions

  • Fitbit 3.55.1 (20263682)
  • Android 12

I am aware that I can set the time zone however this defeats the purpose of it adjusting automatically. Any assistance or explanation is appreciated.

Hi @Karosch  - good reporting, some options

  • turn off automatic time zone & select time zone manually and sync
  • in case it is a clock face issue, try another clock face
  • if syncing with multiple devices, check the devices are correctly set up
  • Use the SimpleCheckup app to see what it tells you is the time zone being used by the watch and see if that changes by itself.

Hey @Guy_ thanks for the swift reply. Replies to your help below:

  • turn off automatic time zone & select time zone manually and sync
  • I wanted to avoid this to make use of the automatic feature, I'll try once I collected some more info (point 4)

  • in case it is a clock face issue, try another clock face
  • This was recommended and checked before, the clock face seems not to be the culprit (using spectrum at the moment)

  • if syncing with multiple devices, check the devices are correctly set up
  • This is the only device, correct set up has been tested

  • Use the SimpleCheckup app to see what it tells you is the time zone being used by the watch and see if that changes by itself.
  • Thank you for the suggestion, I'll monitor and take the reading once the issue re-appears. It might take a while as it happens intermittently.

Hey @Guy_ ,

Apologies for the late reply, vacation unfortunately ended too early and so did the clock issue.

However I was able to get some additional data on timezones:

The SimpleCheckup app confirmed that the watch set itself to utc+1 when the issue occurred. Once it self-resolved the watch switched back to utc+0.

I was unable to reliably reproduce as I am not 100% sure what caused this issue. I suspect its connected to loss of network: re-registering and possibly wrong geo location data, tho I am not an engineer! 🙂

I'll be going to Portugal and Spain mainland soon and will monitor for another occurrence.

Many thanks

Chris
