Sense screen is super bright

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My six month old Sense has suddenly started "waking" after being off for an extended period with a super bright screen.  It adjusts itself pretty quickly but is blinding when it wakes in the night.  I have tried restarting and resetting but this has not fixed it.

Hi @AJSim  - have you tried going into the watch Settings and changing the brightness to normal or dim. It's auto adjusting on each setting but it might be starting from a different level.

Thanks Guy, yep done that - switched to dim but to no avail.  The only time it doesn't do it is if Always On Display is enabled.

@AJSim  - you can try setting a sleep schedule in Quiet modes in the watch Settings. This also dims the screen and possibly removes auto adjust.

Thanks. I’ll give that a try.

Sleep mode definitely helps. Personally I manually turn it on and off with the shortcuts when you swipe left to right. That's because days I'm working I sleep earlier. But if you have a good consistent time to sleep, a schedule would be perfect.

Okay so setting a sleep schedule has not reset the brightness sensor but thanks for the suggestion.  The screen flashes to almost white before normalising itself so perhaps this is a sensor problem rather than a settings problem?

Hi @AJSim. Welcome to the Community Forums. @Guy_ and @eezeepee It's good to see you here.

@AJSim Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and for the steps tried prior to posting. This is an odd behavior and just to confirm with you, may I know the name of the clock face you're using? As you may know, the Fitbit App Gallery has a variety of clock faces designed by both Fitbit and other 3rd-party developers. Assuming you're using a 3rd-party clock face, please get in touch with them to receive more information about it. You'll find their contact details in the clock face description in the Fitbit app.

On the other hand, if it's a Fitbit clock face, I'd recommend contacting our Support team so they can investigate what may be occurring and provide you with further assistance. They're available via chat and phone, just click here to get connected with them.

Hi LizzyFitbit and thanks for the welcome. I’m using a Fitbit clock face and regardless of which clock I use the issue persists.  I reverted to the standard spectrum to see if it is a clock issue but it makes no difference.  Thanks for the link to support!  Cheers

@AJSim Yeah that's a different issue you have with a white bright white flash. From what I'm aware of, there's no brightness sensor. That's why it's just dim, normal and max yet there's no "auto".

@eezeepee  - the brightness auto adjusts on all 3 settings and there is no setting to control by how much, except possibly Sleep mode.

The 3 settings determine the maximum brightness to some extent, normally.

Plot twist. Display is now appearing dim and sometimes black. This is clearly a hardware issue now.

@AJSim  - it would seem if a Shutdown doesn't help.

Before giving up try Fitbit support to guide you through the painful factory reset process and if still faulty and under warranty take it back to where you bought it for a new replacement.
