Sense starting with Error message after Factory Reset

I started a Factory Reset from Settings/About/Factory Reset because the tracker stopped syncing with my Android phone.

The tracker rebooted

and shows now a big red X with "Data not cleared. Sync and Try again." text underneath.

In the app the tracker shows sync failed and will not connect to the tracker via Bluetooth.

How can I get the tracker to reset so I can start over?

after I let the Sense run out of power and plugged it back in to re-charge.
