You are not doing anything wrong. The issue is with the migration to Google accounts and the Fitbit app, more so the app in my case. There are a lot of similar posts like yours all through the forum.

@mrsandale have you tried restarting both your phone and your Fitbit? That is usually the first thing I try when I encounter unexpected behavior from my Sense.

When my Sense stops connecting to my phone here is what I do:  turn Bluetooth off > turn on Airplane Mode > close the Fitbit app, and force stop the app > turn off Airplane Mode > turn on Bluetooth > my Sense usually connects again and stays connected for a while.

If that does not help you could try restarting both your phone and watch.

If none of that helps you could try the standard Fitbit troubleshooting for sync issues:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections, this can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into a charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, set up your other Bluetooth devices on your phone again.
