Sense stuck in a boot loop during/after updating

I know this is an issue that's been brought up before, but I didn't want to comment on threads that've been dead for over a year at this point. The quick and dirty is this;

  • I got a Fitbit sense second hand; someone upgraded their smart watch, gave me this one since they didn't need it anymore
  • Charged it up, got a sync error; figured out how to factory reset the watch, connected it to my phone no problem
  • Setting it up, got to the point where it tells me I need to update the watch before I can use it. Cool, no problem.
  • After updating (I'm assuming the update is fully installed, because I see a check mark on the screen for a second,) the screen turns off, then the logo comes on, and cue the boot loop.

I don't really know what else to do; I've factory reset this thing 5 times now. Two of those times, I tried letting it just play out until the phone gave me an error message, and this last time I'm factory resetting the watch while the phone is off to see if that'll do anything (probably not though.) At this point, I'm going to let the battery run out before trying again, but looking at the posts with similar problems, I don't hold much hope for that to work. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised at this point if there isn't a fix.

Welcome to the community @icehawk182

Thank you for taking the time to share these details about the difficulty that you are experiencing with your Sense.

At this point I'd like to know if you managed to get it connected to the Fitbit app again.

If not, try to follow the steps listed in this help article: How do I set up my Fitbit device?
