Sense won't pair after a factory reset

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I did a factory reset on my fitbit sense. It is now fully charged and connected to the power cord. I have installed the fitbit app (latest) on my phone. It simply will not "find" my sense. I have restarted both the sense and the phone, I have checked bluetooth; when I scan for devices in my phone it will not find the sense at all, despite the sense and the phone literally touching each other. It says to make sure the device you want to connect to is in pairing mode. I cannot tell if the sense is in pairing mode or not, because when I tap the screen of the sense it simply says (in about 50 languages) To start, download the fitbit app. Nothing I do on the sense alters this message (eg swiping, turning off and on, etc). But I have downloaded the latest fitbit app on my phone, as mentioned.

I am at a complete loss as to what to do and at present have a useless sense... If anyone can help it would be really appreciated.

Hi there, @morilko. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for your time in trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Sense. I understand how you must be feeling by now.

Since you've performed a factory reset, please try the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

The steps above should help, let me know if you need further assistance.

Mine has the same problem.  I followed the instructions for the "Sense continually flashes the Fitbit logo".  I have had the watch on the charger overnight twice (actually this problem started when I charged it fully once and since then it has been flashing and vibrating like it's restarting every ten seconds or so).  I followed the instructions by removing the Sense from my fitbit app, and unpaired it from the phone.

Now it's doing nothing.  I have followed the instructions above at least three times, and yet it still flashes the fitbit logo and is nothing but a paperweight.

So now what?

Thankyou Maria for your answer, and ToddPedlar, I'm replying to you in case I can help.

I discovered by accident the following:

I installed the fitbit app on my phone and assumed this would be up-to-date (I mean, surely when you install an app you install the latest version, right??? Wrong!). On a whim, after trying everything else, I decided to go and see if there was an update. There was. Once I let it update, I turned off and on again (both phone and fitbit) and the app on the phone miraculously found the sense, did its thing, and about an hour later, was all set up. I've been using it as normal now.

Please try this, and I hope it helps you.

Hi there, @ToddPedlar. Welcome on board. Thanks for taking the time to try all the steps I recommended above. I understand how you must be feeling by now. Let's see what else we can try!

@morilko Thank you so much for sharing the steps you've tried. I'm so happy to hear you're back on track! Also, I appreciate you trying to help too. @ToddPedlar Would you mind trying that and see if maybe the Fitbit app needs an update?

If the above doesn't describe your issue,  as our last resort, I'd recommend performing a factory reset on your Sense. To do so, on your Fitbit device, open the Settings app > About > Factory Reset.

Once the above has been done, you can now proceed to set up your Sense again by following the steps provided here How do I set up my Fitbit device?

Let us know how it goes.

I have, as I noted already, tried all those steps.

1) The fitbit app is up to date, but it cannot cause the issue that I am seeing with the Sense2 just sitting there blinking the logo continuously.  The fitbit device doesn't know about the phone

2) I came to this thread thinking that I might find something better than the advice on threads about the blinking logo problem.  Apparently I'm not going to find it.

3) I can't do a factory reset on the Sense2 if pressing the side button does nothing.  The logo keeps repeated turning on, the screen goes black, the Sense2 vibrates, and the cycle repeats ad nauseum.

What am I do to in this case, when pressing the side button has no effect, and the Sense2 just keeps repeating the same cycle?  It has been on its charger for hours on end.
