Had a VersaLite prior to buying a Sense. Nothing wrong with the VersaLite, just wanted a smart tracker. Doesn't pick up notifications from mail, mssg, phone, etc which takes the "smart" out of the whole deal. Doesn't sync with my wifi so uses cellular data all the time. Have reset and all the other suggestions over and over. This Sense just might go to the back of the closet and the VersaLite may come back out. What a huge disappointment and waste of money.

Hi @SunsetRunner - the phone and Fitbit App need to be setup correctly for all to work well.
The watch doesn't normally use wifi, it only uses Bluetooth to sync. Often restarting the phone and watch cures things if it is setup correctly.
Have a look at Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Hi @SunsetRunner notifications are handled-by the fitbit app on your phone. As long as sleep and dnd are disabled, we need to look at the fitbit app.
As for syncing, your tracker syncs through the phone. If the phone is connected to WiFi, your tracker will sync through this WiFi
While charging, if the WiFi has been setup. Music and app update will sync.
WiFi on the Sense will only turn on while charging
