Skin temperature sensor, what does it mean?

I love my new Sense. Checking in each day with all my metrics is interesting and mostly useful. However, I’m unclear what the skin temperature metrics is all about. So far, my skin temperature has been either side of the baseline each night. Whilst I assume the fact that I don’t have wide variations is good. I’m unclear what I’m looking at or for what reason?

I assume it kinda works like this - if you see large variations (Say an elevated skin temp) for multiple days in a row it may indicate the early onset of a fever. As long as it goes up and down that's normal (Some nights you sleep with your arm under the covers sometimes above) but if you start seeing a variation big enough to register for multiple days in a row then you may have something coming.
