I know that the specs say my watch has a speaker.... is it disabled for right now or am I doing something wrong?  Thank you.

It is not in use right now.

Fitbit stated it will be enabled for calls on the wrist in the next weeks/months. If it is going to be used for other purposes (Alexa, Google assistant, audible notifications....) is still unknown.

I just had an email from Fitbit say it will have the following:

Go hands-free
With a built-in mic and speaker, you can take Bluetooth®** calls and get text and smartphone app notifications right from your smartwatch.

But when who knows?

Anyone have a date for the speaker to be activated?

Wondering the same. Didn't even know it had a speaker till I was looking at the watch and noticed what looks like a speaker grill next to what I assume is a microphone.

It would be nice to enable it for alarms, notifications and timers like every other device (with the option to turn it off obviously).

For a basic alarm function, it would take a developer a few seconds of their time to add. It's a basic feature of 80s Casio watches, so why is it such a big thing for Fitbit to enable on their £300 (SMARTwatch)? The phone calls, and Google assistant features can wait. Alarms and notifications would be more useful right now.
