Step count highly inaccurate

The step count on my Sense is so inaccurate. It gave me over 6k steps by sitting in my chair. I feel like I should have went a different direction than going with the Sense.

Hi, @Aexh welcome to the community, It's a pity you are having a problem with the step count on your "Sense". You know the accelerometers in the device evaluate your arm movement as steps and can record steps if you are typing or driving for instance. You do not say what you were doing while sitting. This article may be of interest. How accurate are Fitbit devices?

I hope this is helpful but if you are still stuck please post here again.

Cheers

Hi Aexh,

I found the same thing. It said I put on 84 steps from washing my face and if I pet my cat a few times, it will say I put on 50 steps!  Even though, it is on my non-dominant arm, I switched the settings to say it is on my dominant arm and this has helped quite a bit.  I would still say it's still quite inaccurate but now it's probably only off by 500 at the end of the day, instead of 5000!

It's happened to me twice now. Both times while I was sitting. It jumped 2-3k, and immediately another 1-2k. While sitting. If it gives me steps while typing there is something wrong lol I had 0 problems with this with my last fitbit.

I will try that. Twice now mine gave me approx 2k steps while I was sitting. I tried talking to a Fitbit person via the chat and that wasn't helpful.
